I am Maureen Mooney, Physical Therapist and Functional Medicine Practitioner. I named my clinic BodyCheck because I truly believe it is essential for all of us to regularly check our bodies. We do it for our cars because we know regular maintenance will keep them running longer.
I believe body maintenance has 3 components: prevention, active rehab and maintenance. If we go heavy on the prevention and maintenance side, active rehab should be infrequent and of short duration.
What I see with some of my patients is that they get stuck in the rehab component they can’t seem to move ahead, they cannot get a head of their pain. They are in a constant search for pain relief; as they cannot maintain any extended pain free period. For these patients with persistent pain there is so much more I want to tell them but I do not have enough time in my treatment sessions, so I have put the information together in this online course.
Now this information is not my own research, it is a compilation of what I have learned and includes the life style changes I have made to stay fit and pain free. There are lots of lifestyle recommendations out there and sometimes the direction to take is not obvious.
As an educator I feel like my role is to clear the path to make it easier for those who follow. Life style changes are challenging and can be overwhelming if the path is unclear. I hope this course makes it easier for you, so you have more time and energy to commit to changes that can help you get control of your pain.

Strive for life balance and enjoy the fleeting moments when you find it. Balance is truly hard to maintain; it is more about the journey than the goal. Make peace with the journey and recognize that happiness can be found on either side!
