Maureen Mooney
Physiotherapist, BSR, FCAMPT, M.Phty, CAFCI, IMS Certified, Owner and clinic director.
Maureen graduated from the University of BC in 1984 with a Bachelor degree in Rehabilitation Medicine (OT, PT). She became a fellow in the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT) in 1993 and completed a Master Degree in Manipulative Therapy at the University of Queensland, Australia, in 1994. Maureen has completed additional certification in Dr. Chan Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) and Level 1 Acupuncture. BodyCheck is Maureen’s second private practice endeavour. She previously owned Briar Hill Physiotherapy clinic and directed a large multidisciplinary clinic, the Manual Therapy Centre, for LifeMark Physiotherapy Corp. Maureen is a past clinical instructor and examiner for the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She has instructed countless post-graduate physiotherapists in advanced clinical techniques. She has lectured internationally and published clinical papers. She has a special interest in spinal dysfunction and brings over 30 years of experience when assessing and treating her patients. In 2017 she became Certified in Functional Medicine which is interested in addressing the underlying causes of disease to promote optimal wellness. It relies on a understanding of each patients's genetic, biochemical and lifestyle factors that help direct a personalized treatment plan. Besides physiotherapy, her passion is travel and scrambling to the top of mountains!
Alison McGrath
Physiotherapist, BScPT, PGDipHSc(MT), FCAMPT, MHSc, IMS Certified
Alison graduated from the University of Alberta in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy after which she spent 5 years working with sports teams. She later traveled to New Zealand where in 1994, she completed Postgraduate Diploma of Health Sciences in Manipulative Physiotherapy and in 1997 completed a Masters of Health Science. Following this, in 1997, Alison became a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT) and developed the Spine-R-cise spine stabilization class that has now been running in Calgary for many years. She has developed and taught courses to other physiotherapists and been an assistant clinical instructor for courses in Canada, New Zealand and the United States. Alison is a certified and experienced practitioner of Gunn IMS needling and well known throughout the city for her skilled application of this technique.
